Copyright, Licensing and Takedown Notice
Effective 15 September 2026
At a glance
Ownership, permitted reuse and a structured copyright or takedown process.
1. Ownership
Unless stated otherwise, rights in original text, design, code and media produced for Cumhuriyet Atlas belong to the operator or identified rights holder. Third-party names, marks, photographs, data and links remain their owners’ property; attribution does not transfer ownership.
2. Permitted use
Personal use, ordinary linking, criticism and short quotation allowed by applicable law remain available. Written permission is required for automated substantial copying, redistributing images as a separate product, reproducing the database or using the brand in a way that suggests affiliation or permission.
3. What a rights notice should contain
- Name and contact details of the owner or authorised representative;
- a clear description of the protected work and, if possible, its original source;
- the exact Cumhuriyet Atlas URL and location of the disputed material;
- information supporting ownership or authority to act;
- a good-faith explanation of why the use is unauthorised;
- a statement that the supplied information is accurate.
4. Review and interim action
The request is logged and the relevant file/revision and licence evidence are preserved. Content may be restricted temporarily during review where there is a clear and serious rights risk. Outcomes can include corrected attribution, verified licence, replacement, geographic restriction, removal or reasoned rejection.
5. Counter-notice
A contributor who believes material was removed in error may explain their authority and legal basis for use. Any identity and declaration formally required by the applicable jurisdiction is then communicated. Personal details of the parties are not published unnecessarily.
6. Repeat infringement and false notices
Sources responsible for substantiated repeat infringement may be restricted. Knowingly false or abusive notices may be rejected and recorded. This process does not remove access to courts or competent authorities.
