How to report an error or complaint and what happens after a substantiated request.
1. What you can report
You can report a factual error, missing context, stale information, mistranslation, misleading headline, accessibility problem, conflict of interest, inappropriate AI use or unfair personal impact. Copyright and personal-data requests follow their dedicated policy processes.
2. A complete request
- The exact page URL and, if possible, title;
- the disputed sentence, image or timecode;
- why it is wrong, incomplete or unfair;
- preferably a primary/official supporting source;
- the outcome sought and contact details for a response.
Identity evidence is requested through a secure channel only where legally necessary; do not attach unnecessary sensitive documents to the first email.
3. Assessment
The request is logged, the relevant revision and sources are preserved, and severity and urgency are classified. An obvious typographical error may be fixed promptly. A material claim receives an independent source check. Content presenting a serious and imminent risk may be restricted temporarily during review. The requester’s preferred outcome is not automatic; evidence controls the decision.
4. Outcomes
A substantiated material error may lead to correction, clarification, a source refresh, headline/image change or removal. A material change creates a new revision and audit record, with a dated correction note where needed. If a request is declined, the core reason and any reconsideration route are provided where appropriate.
5. Right of reply and abuse
A proportionate reply may be considered for a serious factual claim about a person or organisation. Harassment, automated spam, threats and manifestly baseless repetition may be limited; good-faith criticism is not blocked on that basis.
6. Contact
Send a message titled “Correction request” to the legal contact shown on this page. Include the page URL, disputed passage and, where possible, a supporting source. Copyright and personal-data requests are handled under their dedicated policies.
