Black Sea: calculate the coast and inland excursions separately

Do not treat two short map distances as equivalent when planning a Black Sea trip. Travelling along the coast and going inland then returning can create very different days. Choose accommodation with the evening return and luggage transfer in mind, not only the view. Changing base every night may broaden coverage; exploring from one base may reduce time spent in transit. Compare what each approach contributes to your group using the same assumptions in the route tool.

An appealing landscape photograph does not describe a walk’s difficulty or safety. Do not classify an insufficiently documented trail from its picture; obtain current road, weather and access information from the responsible operator or local authority. An indoor alternative for rain and a turning-back point for a longer excursion make a plan adaptable, not less ambitious. Use the directory below as a research starting point. A visit becomes feasible when current conditions match the needs of the group, not simply because the location appears on a list.
